Enough laws, why politicize
Rev Thomas Philips, a committee member of interfaith group MCCBCHST, also questioned why Hasan kept "churning these sort of comments".
"There are more than enough laws to protect Muslims in this country. I really don't understand this man. If there was such a thing and he had proof, just lodge a report with the authorities. Why politicize the issue? Such remarks are incendiary and create trouble among the various races and faiths, when actually on our own, we get along very nicely," Philips told Malaysia Chronicle.
Apostasy - the conversion of Muslims to any other religion - is illegal in Malaysian. So is proselytizing, or the preaching of Christianity and other faiths to Muslims.
Hasan, also sacked from the Selangor excecutive council, is the state assemblyman for Gombak Setia. He was accused by his PAS colleague for sabotaging their party and working in interests of arch rival Umno.
Some of his critics even flayed him for harboring ambitions to be the chief minister, a post that Umno is believed to have offered him if he could help their BN coalition win back Selangor.
White robes, baptism and holy water
On Thursday, Hasan told a press conference that Christian missionaries dressed in white robes had prayed in a mosque in order to get close to Muslims. He said this information was given by 51 Muslims who confessed they that they had been baptized and made to consume 'holy' water.
However, Hasan failed to give any concrete evidence and refused to divulge the names of the informants.
"They had told this to the Unit Selamatkan Akidah themselves. It is a statement from them but I cannot reveal who they are or where and when the incident happened for the sake of their safety,” said Hasan.
Hasan was quick to add that the Unit was once a part of the Pakatan Rakyat state government, but was now under his personal charge.
